THDCIL Celebrates 39th Foundation Day, Reaffirms Commitment to India’s Clean Energy Future

The milestone occasion reflected the company’s remarkable journey, achievements, and unwavering commitment towards operational excellence, innovation, sustainable development, and strengthening India’s energy security.
The celebrations began with the THDCIL Flag Hoisting Ceremony by Sipan Kumar Garg, Managing Director, THDC India Limited, who addressed employees and senior officials on the significance of the occasion. He highlighted the company’s transformation over nearly four decades and appreciated the dedication, teamwork, and commitment of employees who have played a crucial role in establishing THDCIL as one of India’s prominent power sector organisations.
Sipan Kumar Garg stated that Foundation Day is not merely a celebration of past accomplishments but also an opportunity to renew the organisation’s resolve towards innovation, efficiency, sustainable growth, and contributing significantly to the nation’s energy aspirations.
During his address, the Managing Director highlighted THDCIL’s recent achievements and milestones. The company’s total installed capacity has reached 3,907 MW, marking a significant expansion in its power generation capabilities. The commissioning of the 1000 MW Tehri Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant and the 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project were recognised as landmark achievements in THDCIL’s growth trajectory.
He emphasised that these accomplishments represent the collective efforts of employees across all levels of the organisation. According to him, THDCIL is positioned to emerge as a leading force in the pumped storage sector, playing an important role in meeting India’s growing energy requirements and supporting the country’s transition towards a secure and sustainable energy future.
The Foundation Day celebrations also served as a platform to acknowledge and reward excellence within the organisation. Employees were honoured under various categories, including Meritorious Awards, Suggestion Mela Awards, Innovation Awards, Swift Decision-Making Awards, Gaurav Awards, and the prestigious Naman Award.
The Naman Award was presented to J. Behera, Former Director (Finance), THDC India Limited, in recognition of his distinguished leadership and valuable contribution towards strengthening the company’s financial systems, governance framework, and institutional growth.
The celebrations witnessed the presence of senior officials including L. P. Joshi, Chief Technology Officer, THDCIL; Kumar Sharad, Executive Director (Projects); Dr. A. N. Tripathy, CGM (HR-Admin, CC), along with other senior officers and employees.
Over the years, THDC India Limited has evolved into a key player in India’s power sector, with a diversified portfolio spanning hydro, thermal, solar, and pumped storage projects.
