THDCIL Signs MoU for Slope Stability of Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Route

(THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM) Rishikesh, April 8, 2025 – THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a premier Central PSU in the power sector, has signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) for slope stability studies along the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir. The MoU was formalized at the Shrine Board’s central office and aims to ensure the long-term safety and resilience of the pilgrimage route.
THDCIL CMD, R.K. Vishnoi, highlighted the company’s expertise in hydro energy, slope stabilization, and geotechnical solutions in Himalayan terrains. He reaffirmed THDCIL’s commitment to national development and social upliftment through technical excellence. Under this collaboration, THDCIL will carry out geotechnical and geophysical investigations, while GSI will conduct geological studies along the yatra path.
Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), emphasized that THDCIL has been the Shrine Board’s technical consultant since 2011, and this partnership reflects the trust placed in THDCIL. The company has previously led slope stabilization for the Varunavat Parvat landslide in Uttarkashi and contributed to infrastructure safety in high-risk zones across J&K, including Patnitop, Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban.
With over 430 DPRs prepared for landslide mitigation across India, THDCIL’s consultancy wing continues to serve key infrastructure sectors, including roads and highways. Director (Technical) Bhupender Gupta underscored that the MoU marks a significant milestone in THDCIL’s mission to deliver engineering excellence and strengthen critical infrastructure in geologically sensitive areas.
The MoU was signed by senior representatives of the Shrine Board, THDCIL, and GSI, with key officials present at the ceremony.
