Rishikesh-16-03-2023: THDC India Limited on 15th of March, 2023 achieved a feat by successfully conducting Boiler Hydro Test of Unit-1 of its under-construction coal based 2X660 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant (STPP) in district Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh. The test was conducted in the esteemed presence of Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director (NTPC Limited), Rajeev Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director (THDC India Limited), Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, Director (Project) NTPC Limited, J. Behera, Director (Finance), THDC India Limited and Kumar Sharad, Executive Director, Khurja STPP and other senior officials of THDC India Limited. During the occasion, C. P. Singh, (I.A.S), DM Bulandshahr and Sh. Shlok Kumar, (I.P.S), SSP Bulandshahr were also present.
The boiler hydro test was conducted to test the integrity of 52,209 nos. of welding joints in boiler tubes. In this test, boiler pressure parts were filled with water and subjected to 439.4 kgf/cm2 of pressure which is approximately 1.5 times of the maximum design pressure of the boiler (i.e., 291.9 kgf/cm2).

Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC congratulated all the employees working at the project site and told them that “everyone’s role is important and therefore it’s very important to recognize everyone’s contribution”. He also wished good luck to THDC India Limited for its future endeavors in the direction of completion and commissioning of the project and said that THDCIL has full support from NTPC in every aspect.

Rajeev Vishnoi, CMD, THDCIL congratulated and encouraged all the employees of THDCIL and other Agencies, Consultant engaged in the implementation of the prestigious project. He mentioned that THDCIL has achieved this milestone on time and is moving ahead in time toward the completion of the project. He also maintained that project management is an important concept and the speedy construction of this project is an example of this.

The successful completion of the hydro test is an important milestone for THDC India Limited towards achieving the target of commissioning this Super Thermal Power Plant by February 2024. THDCIL is the premier integrated power utility having operating power stations in the category of Hydro, Wind and Solar power plant. With the completion of Khurja STPP, the corporation shall have a complete portfolio of diversified power generation from all the resources.
