THE REPUBLIC DAY 2024 CELEBRATIONS AT NLCIL

NLC India Limited celebrated the 75th Republic Day of the Nation with usual fervour.A grand festive arrangements were made in the NLCIL’s Bharathi Stadium. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, unfurled the National flag and took salute in the presence of NLCIL’s Functional Directors, CVO, Senior officials and employees. The function was attended by the Contract and Society labours, CISF officials, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Associations representing Engineers & Officers, SC/ST, ST, OBC welfare associations, School and College heads, teaching staffs students and women employees. After unfurling the National Fag, CMD, NLCIL accepted the salute of the platoons of CISF, NLCIL Security, Home Guards, NCC & NSS and Students of Neyveli schools and college. Earlier, CMD, NLCIL garlanded the Statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in the premises of Township Administration.

The celebration of the 75th Republic Day Function started with Tamil Thai Vazhthu and NLCIL Theme song. Samir Swarup Director, Human resource welcomed the gathering. CMD, NLCIL, in his Republic Day address praised and expressed gratitude to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the team of constitutional experts who had taken strenuous efforts in framing up the Constitution of India, the Supreme Law of our nation.

He has also reminded India’s strides towards Atmanirbhar through ‘Make in India and Make for World’ mantra and to become a developed nation by 2047, the centenary year of India’s independence. Towards this NLCIL is resolute in its commitment of 6031 MW in Renewable Energy share to become a 17000 MW plus Energy Company by 2030 to support the trajectory of progress of our nation.
CMD lauded the major achievements of NLCIL in consolidated Profit After Tax at Rs.1,500 Crore with a growth of 52.10% compared to previous year and ever highest Coal production & Sales at Talabira II&III Mine in Odisha. He further added that on Renewable Energy capacity augmentation NLCIL has won 1410 MW SPP tender in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Further, NLCIL got the Coal block allotment of 3MTPA North Dhadu (Western Part) through the Commercial Coal block e-auction. He felt proud in announcing placement of order recently for the mega 3x800MW Super Critical Thermal Power project at Odisha with anticipated commissioning by FY 2028-29.

CMD, NLCIL jubilantly expressed that for the first time in the history of NLCIL, the market share price has been constantly improving and reached an all-time high by enhancing confidence in the investors through continuous interactions with media. He expressed confidence to achieve NLCIL’s ambitious growth plan of 11,140 MW Thermal power and 6031 MW RE with 100 MTPA (Million Tonne Per Annum) mining capacity (55 MTPA Lignite + 45 MTPA Coal) by the year 2030.
NLCIL towards supporting the ‘Decarbonisation program of India’ to achieve ‘Net Zero by 2070’, CMD, NLCIL listed the following new avenues which are under consideration for sustainable future and Carbon Neutral future:

• Pilot Green Hydrogen project’ at Neyveli in line with GoI’s Green Hydrogen Mission.

• Green Coal Technologies’, like Lignite to Diesel project, Lignite Gasification.

• Electric Vehicle Charge Station
• Pumped Hydro Projects and exploring opportunities in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

On this occasion, CMD, NLCIL remembered the company’s Social Responsibility in supporting the State / District Administration at the time of crisis, particularly the relief measures to the people of Chennai and Tuticorin District during the recent flood and a contribution of Rs.4.30 Crore to TN Chief Ministers Relief Fund. CMD had also elaborated the measures undertaken by the company in providing employment and training opportunities for the Project Affected Persons.

CMD, NLCIL listed various awards won by the company in recognition of its committed performance beneficial to the Nation and the society coherent to the target.
He emphasised safety in work places by adhering ‘Safety First’, in Mines, Thermal Units, Project locations and all the operational area and further insisted to diligently follow the prescribed safety guidelines to ensure ‘Zero Harm’ working environment.

As part of the function, the senior most worker of NLCIL, Shri Jothi Murugan along with his spouse Smt. Rani were honoured. Tricycles were presented to differently-abled persons.

CMD, Functional Directors and CVO presented long service awards, loyal service awards and special awards to the employees and students. A Colourful, cultural programme was presented by Neyveli school children and appreciated by one and all.

To mark the occasion, the members of the Neyveli Ladies Club distributed fruits to the in-patients of the NLCIL General Hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.
