By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of three senior Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officers as Members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The appointments, communicated by the Department of Personnel and Training on August 13, 2026, fill vacancies arising on different dates.

Pallavi Agarwal appointed CBDT Member

Pallavi Agarwal, IRS (IT:91008), has been appointed as Member, CBDT, against the vacancy arising from April 1, 2026. She is presently serving as Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Delhi. Her appointment brings extensive experience in the Income Tax Department to the apex direct-tax administrative body.

Sunil Kumar Singh appointed CBDT Member

Sunil Kumar Singh, IRS (IT:91048), has been appointed as Member, CBDT, against the vacancy arising from July 1, 2026. He is currently serving as Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Ahmedabad. His elevation to the Board comes with significant experience in tax administration, investigation and enforcement-related responsibilities.

Vatsalaa Jha appointed CBDT Member

Vatsalaa Jha, IRS (IT:92003), has been appointed as Member, CBDT, against the vacancy arising from September 1, 2026. She is currently serving as Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), North West Region, Chandigarh. Her appointment adds another experienced officer with substantial exposure to investigation and direct-tax administration.

The appointments were approved by the ACC, headed by the Prime Minister, and communicated through the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet under the Department of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
