Top Tax Brass Meet in Bhopal, Push Preparations for New Income Tax Act

BY THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| by Abul Hasan| The Income Tax Department held its Principal CCIT Conclave in Bhopal on November 14, bringing together the country’s senior-most tax administrators for an in-depth review of key departmental priorities. The event was graced by the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ravi Agrawal, along with Board members Pankaj Mishra, Sanjay Bahadur, Prasenjit Singh, and G. Aparna Rao. Principal Chief Commissioners of Income Tax and Commissioners of Income Tax (Administration) from across India participated in the day-long deliberations.

The conclave focused on crucial operational matters, including CPGRAMS issues, appeal disposal, timely completion of assessment proceedings, budget collections, arrear demands, and current demands. A major highlight of the event was the Chairman’s direction to all officials to gear up for the implementation of the Income Tax Act 2025. He emphasised the need for a thorough understanding of the new Act and called upon all stakeholders to ensure smooth adaptation across the organisation. The participants also discussed plans to conduct a nationwide Outreach Program over the next three months to enhance awareness regarding the new law.

Infrastructure requirements for Income Tax offices across the country formed another key part of the agenda, with discussions centred on strengthening facilities to improve taxpayer services and departmental efficiency.

The conclave was organised under the guidance of Lalit Krishna Singh Dahiya, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, whose leadership contributed to the event’s effective execution.

Bharti Singh, Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Ram Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Income Tax (Administration), Gunjan Varshney, Additional Commissioner (Administration), Satendra Singh Mehra, Joint Commissioner, Chetan Sharma, Deputy Commissioner (Administration), Naved Shafqat, Income Tax Officer, and several other officials played an important role in ensuring the program’s success. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ram Kumar Yadav.
