Lucknow, July 28 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has become the longest-serving CM in the state’s history in terms of continuous tenure. As of Monday, he has completed 8 years and 132 days in office, surpassing the previous record of 8 years and 127 days held by Govind Ballabh Pant.
Yogi Adityanath first took oath on March 19, 2017, and was re-elected in 2022, becoming the first Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to return to office after completing a full term. His uninterrupted tenure marks a rare period of political stability in the state.
The previous record-holder, Govind Ballabh Pant, served as Chief Minister from 1950 to 1954, with his tenure considered a benchmark in early post-independence governance.
Yogi’s government has credited its sustained administration for driving key reforms in infrastructure, law and order, and public services across the state.
