Government Approves Key Bureaucratic Appointments and Transfers

New Delhi, June 15, 2025 — The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared a series of senior-level appointments and transfers across various departments and ministries, reflecting significant movements in the Indian administrative machinery.
Sunil Kumar Jha, IPS (BH:1993), currently serving as Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been appointed as Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards. He will assume the post in Level-16 of the pay matrix from the date of joining, for a tenure up to his superannuation on January 31, 2027, or until further orders. He replaces Vivek Srivastava, IPS (GJ:1989), who is set to retire on June 30, 2025.
R.A. Chandra Sekhar, IPS (KL:1991), presently the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, will take over as Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat. His appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge on or after August 1, 2025.
Ateesh Kumar Singh, IRTS (1994), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, has been granted a one-year extension on his central deputation.
Ashish Tiwari, Indian Forest Service officer from the 1995 Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been nominated to serve as the Air Lead at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) for a tenure of three years.
The ACC has also approved a lateral shift for Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS (IT:2008), from his role as Deputy Chairperson, Paradip Port Authority, to Deputy Chairperson, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla. His deputation under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways will continue up to May 10, 2028, marking the end of his five-year combined deputation outside the cadre.
Further, Ms. Radha Katyal Narang, IRS (IT:2005), currently Director in the Department of Justice, will shift to the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Her lateral movement under the Central Staffing Scheme is effective until September 7, 2027, or until further orders.
Nishant Kumar, IRS (C\&IT:2015), has been appointed as Deputy Secretary at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He will serve on deputation for a period of four years from the date he assumes charge.
In another development, Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS (HY:2000), Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, has been granted an in-situ upgradation to the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India. This upgradation is personal to him and involves a temporary elevation of his current post.
These appointments mark part of routine administrative reshuffles aimed at ensuring effective governance and administrative continuity across various sectors.
