By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The 22nd All India TDS Conference, 2025 was held today at Hotel Taj Lakefront, Bhopal,
organized by the Income Tax Department, Madhya Pradesh–Chhattisgarh Region, in
collaboration with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The conference brought together Principal Chief Commissioners, Chief Commissioners, Directors General, and senior officers from the TDS, International Tax, Exemption, Investigation, Systems, and TPA Divisions, along with officers from the Bhopal charge. Ravi Agrawal, Chairman, CBDT, inaugurated the conference and launched the Information Brochure for DDOs in Government Organisations, aimed at promoting better TDS compliance among government deductors. In his address, the Chairman emphasized that the conference holds special significance as the Income-tax Act, 2025 is set to be implemented from 1 April 2026, with the TDS provisions being the first to be operationalized and administered. He urged officers to begin preparations early, focus on capacity building, and enhance awareness among deductors. He stressed the need for data-driven approaches to strengthen compliance and for closer coordination between system units and field formations to ensure smooth implementation of the new law. Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Member (TPS & Revenue), CBDT, highlighted that the objective of the conference was to strengthen engagement between the Board and field officers. He expressed concern over compliance lapses among deductors, particularly under Section 192 (salary TDS), and called for expanding monitoring to autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings, and state departments through robust outreach and awareness initiatives. The conference featured deliberations on untagged challans, correction statements, data analytics for identifying compliance gaps, targeted outreach, sectoral analysis, and transformation of TDS administration. Other issues discussed included fraudulent TDS claims, prosecution and compounding, and coordination with state governments for TDS recovery, reflecting the Department’s commitment to enhancing compliance and efficiency in TDS administration. Under the guidance of Lalit Krishna Singh Dahiya, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Bhopal, the conference was organised through the concerted efforts of Ms. Bharti Mahajan Singh, CIT (TDS); Ram Kumar Yadav, CIT (Admin & TPS); Ms. Gunjan Varshney, Addl. CIT (Admin & TPS); Satendra Singh Mehra, JCIT (TDS); and Dr. Chetan Sharma, DCIT (HQ Admin).The programme was compered by Ms. Harkamal Sohi, Addl. CIT.
