Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana and West Bengal have announced major leadership appointments in police and administration. Dr KLN Rao Named In-Charge Gujarat Police Chief
Senior IPS officer Dr K L N Rao, a 1992-batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as in-charge Director General of Police and chief of the Gujarat Police, succeeding the retired Vikas Sahay. Rao, currently DGP CID (Crime & Railways), brings extensive policing and leadership experience as he oversees crime, organised law-and-order and internal security operations.
Sadanand Date Appointed Maharashtra Director General of Police
Sadanand Vasant Date, a 1990-batch IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra for a two-year term. Date, known for his role during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and as former Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), brings deep counter-terrorism and policing experience to the state’s top police post.
Ajay Singhal, a 1992-batch IPS officer, assumed charge as Director General of Police of Haryana on Thursday. The state government appointed him a day earlier following the superannuation of O P Singh. Singhal brings wide policing experience and is expected to focus on law and order, crime control and modernisation of the state police force.
Manoj Pant Appointed Principal Secretary to West Bengal CM
Senior IAS officer Manoj Pant, a 1991-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, has been appointed Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with the rank of Chief Secretary after serving as the state’s Chief Secretary. Pant’s long administrative tenure includes leadership in land, finance and development portfolios, and his continued role underscores administrative continuity.
