Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Rajkot International Airport to a warm and dignified reception, reflecting the significance of the event. Senior state functionaries and dignitaries, including
Chief Minister, Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, Dy. Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Gujarat Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das, were present to receive him. From Rajkot, the Prime Minister proceeded to Gir Somnath to take part in the commemorative programmes organised under the banner of Somnath Swabhiman Parv.
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, the Prime Minister led the ‘Shaurya Yatra’, a ceremonial procession held to honour the brave warriors who laid down their lives defending the Somnath Temple across centuries. The yatra stood as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made to protect India’s civilisational heritage and spiritual identity. With chants, traditional displays and the participation of local citizens, the procession symbolised courage, devotion and unwavering faith.
