Indian Officers Nominated for UN Police Department Roles

India Steps Forward in Global Policing Cooperation with Nominations for UN Police Department Recruitment Campaign 2025
India has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to global peacekeeping and international policing cooperation by forwarding nominations of several senior and experienced police officers for key positions under the United Nations Police Department (UNPD) Standing Police Capacity (SPC) Recruitment Campaign 2025.
The nominations have been conveyed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York for consideration during the selection process at the United Nations Headquarters.
The Standing Police Capacity of the United Nations plays a crucial role in supporting peace operations worldwide. Officers selected for these roles assist in strengthening policing institutions, enhancing law enforcement capabilities, and supporting rule-of-law initiatives in countries affected by conflict or instability.
For the position of Team Leader at the P-5 level, nominations include Nitasha Guria, IPS (Bihar cadre, 2008), currently serving as DIG in the Bureau of Police Research and Development in New Delhi; Manish Singh, DIG in CISF; S Hari Prasath, IPS (Bihar cadre, 2010), serving as DIG in the National Security Guard; and Dr V Sasi Mohan, IPS (Tamil Nadu cadre, 2011), DIG in Tamil Nadu.
For the role of Police Reform Adviser at the P-4 level, the nominated officers are Gautam Singal, PPS, serving as AIG in Punjab, and Omapati Jamwal, IPS (Himachal Pradesh cadre, 2011), DIG in Himachal Pradesh.
In the category of Community Policing (Reform) Officer at the P-3 level, the nominations include Navdeep Kaur, Deputy SP in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Lalit Panwar, Commandant in CISF.
For the position of Gender Affairs Officer at the P-3 level, the nominees are S Balaji, DCIO in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Binny Minhas, DSP of the Himachal Pradesh Police.
Meanwhile, for the Transnational Crime Officer position at the P-3 level, the nominees include Ranu Sharma, RPS, Additional SP in Rajasthan, and Ramadas M, Deputy Commandant in CISF.
The nominations reflect India’s deep pool of experienced policing professionals and the country’s continued engagement with international peace and security frameworks. Indian police officers have long played an important role in United Nations peacekeeping missions, contributing expertise in community policing, institutional reform, counter-crime initiatives, and gender-sensitive policing practices.
By putting forward these accomplished officers for the UN Standing Police Capacity roles, India reiterates its commitment to strengthening global law enforcement cooperation and supporting the United Nations’ efforts to promote stability, justice, and sustainable peace in conflict-affected regions around the world.
The nominated officers will now undergo the selection process at the United Nations Headquarters, where successful candidates will join international teams tasked with assisting member states in building effective, accountable, and community-oriented policing systems.
