By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The India–Africa Strategic Partnership Meet, held during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 in New Delhi, marked a pivotal step in deepening cooperation between India and African nations in the power sector. Convened on March 21, the session brought together ministers, ambassadors, senior officials and global energy leaders to chart a roadmap for sustainable and reliable energy partnerships.

The session opened with a welcome address by Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited, who underscored the importance of collaborative growth and shared energy goals. Strategic perspectives were further outlined by leadership from NTPC Limited and Africa50, setting the context for meaningful engagement.

High-level participation included ministers from Mauritius and Malawi, alongside key representatives from the World Bank Group, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited and Africa Infrastructure Development Association. Discussions focused on expanding investments, fostering joint ventures and strengthening institutional capabilities across regions.

Supported by Ernst & Young as knowledge partner, the meet facilitated exchange of national priorities, policy frameworks and project opportunities. It also encouraged direct interaction between Indian states and African leaders, promoting practical collaboration.

The session reinforced India’s leadership in global energy cooperation and highlighted its commitment to supporting Africa’s power sector growth. By enabling strategic partnerships, the meet laid a strong foundation for inclusive development, energy security and long-term infrastructure advancement across both regions.
