In a notable administrative development, the Controller General of Accounts under the Ministry of Finance has issued a “Most Urgent Final Reminder” to various ministries and departments regarding the submission of vacancy data for the post of Accountant under SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2026.

The Office Memorandum dated April 6, 2026, highlights that several key ministries and departments have yet to furnish the required vacancy details despite earlier communication. The delay has prompted the CGA to seek immediate compliance, stressing that accurate and timely data is critical for workforce planning and recruitment through the Staff Selection Commission.

As per the directive, all pending information must be submitted in the prescribed format on an urgent basis, with a strict deadline of April 9, 2026. The CGA has also cautioned that failure to report vacancies within the stipulated timeframe will result in such vacancies being treated as “Nil” for the current recruitment cycle. This would directly impact the availability of posts for SSC CGLE 2026, potentially reducing intake across departments.

The annexure attached to the memorandum lists a wide range of ministries that have not yet reported vacancies. These include prominent departments such as Finance, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Health & Family Welfare, Electronics & Information Technology, and Housing & Urban Affairs, among others. Even key organizations like CBDT and PFMS are part of the pending list, indicating the scale of the compliance gap.

The move underscores the government’s increasing emphasis on procedural efficiency and accountability in recruitment processes. Timely vacancy reporting is crucial not only for maintaining transparency but also for ensuring that aspirants appearing in national-level examinations like SSC CGLE have access to accurate information regarding job opportunities.

With the deadline approaching, all eyes are now on the concerned ministries to expedite their submissions and avoid any adverse impact on the recruitment cycle.
