By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|In a move reflecting continuity and administrative stability at the highest level, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extensions in the central deputation tenures of key officers serving in the Prime Minister’s Office. The decision underscores the importance of experienced leadership in ensuring sustained policy execution and efficient governance.

Leading the list is Ashish Vachhani, IAS (Tamil Nadu cadre, 1997 batch), who will continue as Additional Secretary in the PMO for a further period of two years beyond May 23, 2026, or until further orders. Known for his administrative depth and policy coordination skills, Vachhani has been instrumental in facilitating inter-ministerial alignment and supporting key national initiatives at the highest level.

In addition, the ACC has approved extensions for two Directors in the PMO, strengthening its operational framework. Parthiban P. (AGMUT cadre, 2011 batch) has been granted a one-year extension beyond June 25, 2026, while Amrit Agrahari (Income Tax, 2011 batch) will continue for one year beyond July 9, 2026, or until further orders.

These extensions highlight a deliberate emphasis on continuity within the PMO, which functions as the nerve centre of governance. Retaining officers familiar with ongoing programmes ensures consistency in policy implementation and minimizes disruptions in administrative processes. Their experience and institutional memory are critical in maintaining the pace of reforms and ensuring effective delivery of government priorities.

At a time when governance demands precision, coordination, and responsiveness, such decisions reinforce the importance of stability in key positions. The continued presence of these officers is expected to further strengthen the PMO’s capacity to drive policy execution and support leadership in addressing emerging national challenges with clarity and efficiency.
