By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|The Singrauli based flagship arm of Coal India, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), is rewriting the summer vacation playbook with its annual summer camp, ‘Aarohan 2026’. The Camp has taken over the Singrauli and Sonbhadra region, turning the holiday heat into an absolute celebration of sports, arts, and unstoppable confidence. Organised from 21st May to 10th June, 2026, this camp is designed for children aged 7 to 14 years, providing a structured and inclusive environment tailored to their foundational development.

A Journey of Growth: Nurturing Local Talent

Since its inception in 2018, ‘Aarohan’ has evolved from a modest corporate social responsibility project into a massive community movement. In its inaugural year, the camp started with just 1,200 children guided by 46 coaches. Today, in its seventh edition, enrollment has nearly quadrupled. Significantly, the camp benefits the local community. Out of the 4,700+ participants this year, 2,149 are children of NCL employees, while a staggering 2,569 children come from the surrounding peripheral areas, highlighting NCL’s commitment to inclusive development.

Diverse Training Under Expert Guidance

This year, the children are receiving professional training across 13 distinct sports, artistic, and cultural disciplines. The activities include: Sports & Athletics: Football, Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Basketball, Athletics, Skating, and Swimming, Martial Arts-Judo and Karate and Creative Arts- Music & Dance, and Arts & Crafts.

To ensure top-tier guidance, the training is being spearheaded by NCL’s employees who have previously achieved distinction in Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and Coal India-level competitions. Furthermore, events are mapped to specific NCL Areas and Units that boast specialized infrastructure for instance, swimming sessions are being held at the state-of-the-art facility in Jayant, while Kabaddi training is anchored at the Kakri Area.

Beyond Sports: Building Citizens of Tomorrow

NCL’s ‘Aarohan’ Summer Camp is not merely about sports and entertainment; it is designed as a launchpad for holistic personality development. Dedicated sessions throughout the 21 days focus on building core life skills such as leadership, self-confidence, discipline, team spirit, effective communication, and positive values.

From the Camp to the Global Stage: Notable Achievements

The impact of the ‘Aarohan’ ecosystem is visible in the stellar achievements of its alumni on national and international platforms. At the 12th Mount Everest International Karate Championship 2026 held in Nepal, camp trainees competed against athletes from seven nations, bringing home 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal, alongside 3 participation awards. Additionally, In 61st Madhya Pradesh Athletics Championship 2025, Aarohan-trained runners bagged 20 medals (5 Gold, 4 Silver, and 11 Bronze) and over 50 players have represented their regions in Senior and Junior National and State-level Kabaddi tournaments, while 6 badminton players have made it to the National and State levels.
