By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA| The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the service of Vikram Misri, Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1989 batch and the current Foreign Secretary of India. His tenure has been extended beyond July 14, 2026, up to July 14, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, under the provisions of Fundamental Rule 56(d).
The extension comes at a significant time as India continues to strengthen its diplomatic outreach and strategic partnerships across the world. As the country’s top diplomat, Misri has been instrumental in advancing India’s foreign policy priorities, managing key bilateral and multilateral engagements, and representing the nation’s interests on major global platforms. The extension ensures continuity in the leadership of the Ministry of External Affairs during a crucial phase of India’s international engagement.
