Punjab & Sind Bank Expands Global Footprint with IFSC Banking Unit Licence at GIFT City

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|State-owned Punjab & Sind Bank has taken a significant step towards strengthening its international banking presence by receiving the licence from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to establish an International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) Banking Unit (IBU) at GIFT City, Gandhinagar.

The approval marks an important milestone in the bank’s strategy to expand its global operations and provide world-class offshore banking services aligned with the growing importance of India’s international financial ecosystem.

The proposed IFSC Banking Unit will enable Punjab & Sind Bank to offer a wide range of foreign currency banking solutions and international financial services. The facility is expected to cater to the financing requirements of corporates, financial institutions, importers, exporters and global investors.

Through the GIFT City platform, the bank aims to enhance its capabilities in areas such as trade finance, cross-border transactions, foreign currency lending and other specialised banking services. The move is also expected to support India’s vision of developing GIFT IFSC as a globally competitive financial hub.

The establishment of the IBU will provide Punjab & Sind Bank with greater access to international markets while enabling it to serve customers with customised financial solutions beyond domestic boundaries.

With increasing demand for seamless cross-border financial services, the bank’s presence at GIFT City is expected to strengthen its role in facilitating international trade and investment flows. The initiative reflects Punjab & Sind Bank’s commitment to innovation, global expansion and delivering enhanced banking services to a diverse international clientele.
