By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a strong sense of national pride at its headquarters and across all its operational areas. The celebrations highlighted CCL’s enduring commitment to the nation’s energy security, industrial development and the vision of a stronger and self-reliant India.

The central celebration was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Kridangan in CCL’s Gandhinagar Colony, where CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Nilendu Kumar Singh unfurled the national flag and took the salute. The ceremony was attended by Director (Finance) Pawan Kumar Mishra, Director (Human Resources) Harsh Nath Mishra, Director (Technical/Operations) Chandra Shekhar Tiwari, Director (Planning & Projects) Anup Hanjura, Chief Vigilance Officer Pankaj Kumar, senior CISF officials, general managers, heads of departments, representatives of workers’ unions and a large number of CCL employees.

The CMD also inspected the parade presented by security personnel and students, underscoring the importance of discipline, dedication and service to the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Nilendu Kumar Singh extended his warm Independence Day greetings and paid tribute to the supreme sacrifice and unparalleled valour of the freedom fighters and martyrs who secured the nation’s independence. He emphasised that CCL’s contribution extends beyond coal production, stating that the company is playing an important role in meeting India’s energy requirements while simultaneously contributing to nation-building and the industrial development of Jharkhand.

The celebrations also provided a vibrant platform for young talent. Students of DAV Gandhinagar, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Gyanodaya School presented patriotic cultural programmes that reflected the spirit of nationalism and devotion to the country. Their performances were warmly appreciated by the audience.

A symbolic message of national unity and integrity was conveyed when the CMD, directors, CVO and other dignitaries released tricolour balloons into the sky. The gesture represented the collective aspirations of a nation united in its commitment to progress, harmony and development.

The occasion also recognised excellence and dedication. CCL security personnel, CISF personnel, NCC cadets and students from various schools were felicitated for their outstanding performances. Security personnel working across CCL’s operational areas were honoured for their courage, commitment to duty and dedicated service.

Academic excellence was also celebrated, with meritorious students of Classes X and XII from DAV schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas functioning in the CCL command area being felicitated for their outstanding performance in examinations. The recognition reflected CCL’s continued emphasis on encouraging young minds and supporting educational achievement in its operational communities.

The Independence Day celebrations extended beyond the main ceremonial programme and carried a message of compassion and social responsibility. Preeti Singh, President, Arpita Mahila Mandal, along with other members of the organisation, distributed fruits among patients undergoing treatment at CCL’s Gandhinagar Hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.

Earlier, Director (Human Resources) Harsh Nath Mishra unfurled the national flag at the Darbhanga House premises and Gandhinagar Hospital, extending Independence Day greetings to employees and members of the CCL community.

The celebrations across CCL reflected the organisation’s multifaceted contribution to nation-building—from ensuring energy security and supporting industrial growth to promoting education, recognising service and extending community welfare initiatives. As India marks its 80th Independence Day, CCL’s celebrations reaffirmed its resolve to contribute with greater dedication to the country’s journey towards a developed, prosperous and self-reliant India.
