Senior IAS officer Dr Sajjan Singh Yadav, a 1995-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has been appointed the new Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, succeeding Atal Dulloo, a 1989-batch IAS officer, who is scheduled to superannuate on October 31, 2026. Dulloo assumed the post on December 1, 2023.

According to an order issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Yadav has been transferred from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir as Chief Secretary with effect from November 1, 2026, or the date of joining, whichever is later.

Currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary in the Delhi government, Yadav will supersede at least five IAS officers for the prestigious post. His appointment brings extensive administrative experience to the Union Territory’s top bureaucratic position.

During his career, Yadav has held several important assignments in the Central Government and Union Territories, gaining substantial experience in governance, financial management, public administration and service delivery. At the Centre, he served as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Joint Secretary in the Department of Expenditure. His appointment is expected to bring his wide-ranging administrative expertise to Jammu and Kashmir’s governance and development priorities.
