By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The Bhopal Division of West Central Railway has registered an impressive financial performance during the first two months of the financial year 2026-27, earning more than ₹350 crore in revenue through passenger services, freight operations, ticket checking and other commercial activities. The achievement reflects the division’s sustained efforts to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen revenue streams and improve customer service.
Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi and the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria and Senior Divisional Operations Manager Rohit Malviya, officers and employees of the Commercial Department have been working in close coordination to maximize railway earnings and ensure seamless service delivery.
According to the division’s performance report, the total revenue earned during April and May 2026 stood at ₹350.30 crore. The largest share of earnings came from passenger ticket bookings, which generated ₹177.39 crore through the sale of 71.07 lakh passenger tickets. This highlights the strong demand for rail travel across the division and underscores the railway’s role as a preferred mode of transportation for millions of passengers.
Freight transportation also emerged as a major contributor to revenue generation. During the two-month period, the division transported 1.23 million tonnes of goods, earning ₹143.65 crore. The robust freight performance reflects the importance of the Bhopal Division as a key logistics and transportation corridor supporting industrial, commercial and economic activities across the region.
Ticket checking activities further strengthened revenue realization. Railway staff detected and processed approximately 1.32 lakh cases during April and May, resulting in revenue of ₹9.53 crore. The drive demonstrates the division’s commitment to ensuring compliance with railway regulations while safeguarding legitimate earnings.
Additional income was generated through other coaching services and miscellaneous sources. Revenue from other coaching activities amounted to ₹13.34 crore, while miscellaneous earnings contributed ₹15.93 crore to the division’s overall revenue basket.
The achievement is particularly significant as it comes at a time when Indian Railways continues to focus on financial sustainability, service quality and customer-centric operations. Efficient coordination among commercial, operating and field-level staff has played a crucial role in achieving these results.
Speaking on the division’s performance, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria emphasized that the entire railway team remains committed to increasing revenue through collective efforts and strategic initiatives. He expressed confidence that the division would achieve even better results in the coming months.
Kataria also reaffirmed the Bhopal Division’s commitment to providing complaint-free and passenger-friendly services. He noted that while revenue enhancement remains an important objective, equal emphasis is being placed on ensuring a safe, comfortable and satisfactory travel experience for railway users.
With strong passenger patronage, growing freight business and continuous operational improvements, the Bhopal Division has begun the financial year on a promising note, reinforcing its position as one of the important revenue-generating divisions of West Central Railway.
