Coal India Limited (CIL) with a modest production of 79 Million Tonnes (MTs) at the year of its inception CIL today is the single largest coal producer in the world.
Coal India Ltd. has taken a significant initiative by making use of its mine water & turning it into safe potable & drinking water. This is done using the reverse osmosis water purification process. It is now setting up a a bottling plant at WCL and will sell the safe drinking water under the brand name “Coal Neer”.

One of the inherent tendencies of coal mining is degradation of the land and environment. CIL constantly addresses the impact of mining activities across environmental and social issues. Eco-friendly mining systems have been put in place in all of its mining areas.
