Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, since its inception has seen working towards sustainability around its commercial area of operations. We have set a trend in the Indian port sector to address environmental aspects even before the commencement of any other project of the port. JNPT constantly focuses on sustainability to minimize the impact of the ports operations on the environment and surrounding communities. On the environment conservation front, the port has undertaken many green initiatives which includes harnessing of solar ower, sewage treatment plant for recycling of waste water and Solid waste management plant, as we aim to be a Green Port, to maintain ecological balance. Today nearly 34% of the port area is under green cover including mangroves. We not only aim to obtain economic efficiencies, but also focus on ecological and social stability. Thus enviro mental protection will continue to be an integrated aspect in JNPorts planning and operations.
