Lakshmi Vilas Bank helps flood affected citizens of TN

December 11, 2015: Lakshmi Vilas Bank has extended a helping hand to the flood affected people of Tamilnadu and provided relief to them in several ways.

The Bank has ensured that the relief material is directly delivered to the needy people by ensuring that the delivery takes place through its own employees who acted as volunteers. More than 100 employees were exclusively engaged in the task of procuring, transporting and distributing the relief materials.

7500Kgs of Rice, 1500 Kg Dal, 1500 Kg Oil, 3000 blankets, 3000 Sanitary napkins, 1000 Mosquito Nets, 2000 Nighties, 1000 T-Shirts, 1100 Dress sets and 240 Mosquito Coils were procured and distributed to 10050 needy people by the employees of LVB. The distribution took place in various areas of Chennai like Kolapakkam, Jafferkhanpet, Puliyanthopu, Shenoy Nagar, Vyasarpadi, Saidapet, Triverkadu, MKB Nagar, Sullaipullam, Kannigapuram, MGR Nagar, Purasaivakkam, Thirvotriyur and Jayalakshmipuram.

Bank has also extended flood relief in Chennai through the Tamilnadu Arya Vysya Maha Sabha and The Hindu.

Bank has also helped the flood affected people of Cuddalore District by distributing 1000 tarpaulins at 9 villages namely Manikkollai, Villia Nallur, Velangepattu, Palvathunnan, Alamelu Mangapuram, Vainamoor, Sendiriya Killai, Poovalai and Ramanadha Kuppam and food items at Chellankuppam village and Navaneethan Nagar.

Further, during the occurrence of floods when money was a much needed commodity, Bank ensured that most of its Branches and ATMs were working and attending to customers. During the 5 day period 2nd December to 6th December, the bank’s ATMs disbursed Cash of Rs.7.31 Crores in Chennai.

Recently, as part of the CSR activities the bank has extended its support towards the betterment of society by means of providing infrastructural and basic amenities. The bank has constructed 18 toilets in 9 villages of Tamil Nadu as a part of Prime Minister’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ initiative. The Bank also works extensively in the areas of Education and Healthcare.
