THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|In a significant move aimed at strengthening India’s industrial and energy landscape, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and NLC India Limited (NLCIL) have signed a Joint Venture (JV) agreement for setting up a 1,080 MW Captive Power Plant at Anugul, Odisha.

The agreement was signed in the presence of G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, in New Delhi, marking a major milestone in the strategic partnership between two Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under the Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal, Government of India.

The proposed captive power project is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the growing energy requirements of industrial operations while supporting the country’s objectives of enhancing energy security and promoting sustainable industrial development.

The partnership between NALCO and NLCIL reflects the government’s focus on leveraging the strengths of leading public sector enterprises to create large-scale infrastructure projects. The collaboration combines NALCO’s expertise in aluminium production with NLCIL’s capabilities in power generation, creating synergies for long-term growth.

The Anugul project is aligned with India’s vision of expanding domestic manufacturing capacity and ensuring reliable power availability for strategic industries. The initiative is also expected to contribute to regional economic development through employment generation and associated infrastructure growth.

The JV agreement highlights the growing cooperation among Navratna CPSEs in developing critical energy and industrial assets. It represents another step towards building a self-reliant industrial ecosystem and supporting India’s journey towards becoming a global manufacturing and economic powerhouse.
