NTPC Commissions first 660 MW unit of Nabinagar Power Plant

NTPC Ltd, India’s largest power generating company, today commissioned the first 660 MW unit of 1980-MW Nabinagar Super Thermal Power project in Bihar. R.K. Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent charge), Power, New and Renewable energy declared the Commercial Operation of 660MW unit of Nabinagar Power Plant.

Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Energy Minister, Bihar presided the function in the presence of Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, MP(LS), Aurangabad, Mahabali Singh, MP(LS) Karakat and Birendra Kumar Singh, MLA-Nabinagar.

Gurdeep Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, NTPC Ltd, Shri Pratayay Amrit, Principal Secretary (Energy), Bihar, A.K. Gupta, Chairman NPGCL & Director (Commercial), NTPC Ltd, S. Narendra, Regional Executive Director (ER-1), Vijay Singh, Chief Executive Officer, NPGCL along with other senior officials of NTPC were present on the occasion.

During his visit to NPGCL, Power Minister Shri R.K Singh inspected the Power Plant and township. He highlighted the new initiatives and appreciated the efforts of NTPC for working in line with the Government commitment to ensure a 24X7 quality power supply to All.

NTPC Ltd. currently operates 53 power stations (22 Coal, 7 combined cycle gas/liquid fuel, 2 Hydro, 1 Wind and 11 solar projects). Further, it has 9 coal and 1 gas station, owned by Joint ventures or subsidiaries taking the capacity to 55,786 MW.

NTPC aims to achieve total installed capacity of 130 GW by 2032.
