2nd October is celebrated in the country to mark the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation “Mahatma Gandhi” as Gandhi Jayanti. The UN General Assembly declared that 2nd October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi initiated the mission Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which is aimed to achieve an “open-defecation free” (ODF), on Gandhi Jayanthi.

The PSU world celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great zeal.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at SECL, CMD AP Panda inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Udyan and the statue of Gandhiji was unveiled. Later, plantation of gardens, Vasant Vihar and Indira Vihar inaugurated RO Water ATM. Khadi bags were also distributed on this day.

On the occasion of GandhiJayanti, CMD, NALCO, Sridhar Patra dedicated a Road named ‘Mahatma Gandhi Marg’ within the NALCO Nagar Township in Bhubaneswar, in remembrance of MahatmaGandhi 2nd October.

BN Shukla, CMD, Mahanadi Coal Field, today inaugurated 5 “Mahatma Gandhi Udyan” in mine areas under Talcher & Ib Valley Coalfields. Over 5,500 fruit bearing trees, mostly collected from icarindia Lucknow are being grown in the orchards developed over 10 hactaer land. Also SwachhtaMah today started at Mahanadi Coal Field with CMD, BN Shukla initiating a cleanliness drive from company HQs. OP Singh, DTO, KR Vasudevan, DF, Baban Singh, DT(P&P) were prominent among senior officers participating in the acticity. GandhiJayanti.

SAIL Ranchi units celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great fervour and enthusiasm. On this occasion KAMAKSHI RAMAN ED (HRD) MTI, KK JHA ED (SSO), AJAY ARORA ED I/C (RDCIS)and JAGDISH ARORA ED (CET) paid homage to Gandhiji on his 151st birth anniversary in their respective workplaces.
