Union Minister of P&HUA, made his maiden visit to DVC

Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, Manohar Lal, made his maiden visit today at Damodar Valley Corporation headquarters. The Minister was greeted at DVC Towers by Chairman S. Suresh Kumar, I.A.S. along with Member (Finance), Member (Secretary), Member (Technical), CVO and senior officials of DVC.Senior officials from Ministry of Power, GoI, including Joint Secretary (Thermal & Coal): Piyush Singh & Director (Thermal) : Satish Kumar were also present.In the review meeting held, the Minister was apprised about the present operations and future plans of the Corporation. Manohar Lal stated that the growth and progress of organizations like DVC is important for the energy security and economic development of the country.He said that Damodar Valley Corporation is the first multi-purpose river valley project of independent India, which is a matter of great pride for DVCians.The operational and financial issues faced by DVC were discussed in detail on which the Minister assured that necessary action will be taken to resolve the issues at both Department level and the Government level for smooth and effective functioning of the Corporation.He stressed upon increasing the renewable energy share in DVC’s total energy portfolio. He also affirmed that both public and government support will be provided to DVC for its future expansion plans and overall growth,For this purpose, DVC should explore the market options through public participation in equity and also to unbundle its operations to achieve greater efficiency. DVC officials assured that the Corporation will continue to strive to achieve its goals and play an important role in meeting the energy needs of the country. On this occasion, the employees of DVC expressed gratitude for the guidance and support by the Minister.
