Tax Talk Strengthens Taxpayer Awareness on New Income Tax Act, 2025 in Bhopal

Bhopal witnessed a meaningful step toward greater tax awareness and taxpayer engagement as the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh), Bhopal, successfully organized a mega outreach programme titled “Tax Talk – A Discussion on New Income Tax Act, 2025” on April 27, 2026, at Kushabhau Thakre Hall.
The large-scale programme reflected the Income Tax Department’s continued focus on transparent communication and constructive dialogue with taxpayers and stakeholders. Conducted under the guidance of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Mona Mohanty, the event brought together senior officials of the department, tax professionals, business leaders, industry representatives and a large number of taxpayers on a common platform for discussion and awareness.
The programme was designed to familiarize stakeholders with the provisions of the New Income Tax Act, 2025, while presenting its key changes in a simple and practical manner. It also served as an important forum for clarifying compliance requirements and highlighting taxpayer-friendly measures introduced under the new framework.
The successful planning and execution of the event saw significant contributions from Ram Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Income Tax; Gunjan Varshney, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax; Dr. Chetan Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax; Naved Shafqat, Income Tax Officer (Public Relations), along with their dedicated team.
Among the senior dignitaries present were Bijoy Kumar Panda, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Bhopal, and Rahul Raman, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, along with several other senior officers from the Income Tax Department of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The participation extended well beyond the department, with presidents, secretaries and executive members of leading trade, industrial and professional associations from Bhopal attending with enthusiasm. Chartered accountants, tax consultants and other stakeholders also joined in large numbers, making the programme a truly inclusive and impactful outreach initiative.
The keynote address was delivered by Mona Mohanty, who underlined the department’s commitment to making the tax system more transparent, accessible and taxpayer-friendly. She emphasized the importance of awareness and cooperation in ensuring smooth implementation of the New Income Tax Act, 2025.
Additional insights on the subject were shared by Abhishek Mishra, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax; Akshay Jain, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax; Satendra Mehra, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax; CA Amit Jain; and CA Anshul Agrawal. Their presentations helped simplify complex provisions and offered practical clarity for taxpayers and professionals alike.
The programme was smoothly conducted by Megha Bhargava, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, whose moderation ensured an engaging and well-structured discussion throughout the session.
A notable announcement during the event was that similar outreach programmes would be organized at 12 locations across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between April 28 and April 30, 2026. This wider regional initiative aims to ensure that the benefits of awareness and direct departmental interaction reach a larger number of taxpayers and stakeholders.
Through “Tax Talk,” the Income Tax Department once again reinforced its commitment to building trust through communication and cooperation. By taking tax awareness directly to the people, the department has signaled its intent to create a compliance environment that is not only efficient but also supportive and citizen-centric.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sanjay, who expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors for making the event a grand success.
