BEML LIMITED, a Public Sector Company under the Ministry of Defence and the premier manufacturer of Metro Cars, has bagged order for supply of 7 train sets of 6 cars each i.e., 42 metro coaches of valued at around Rs. 400 Crores, from Bangalore Metro Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

The above order is in addition to earlier order from BMRCL for supply of 150 Nos. intermediate metro car units last year.

Apart from BMRCL, BEML is presently executing contracts for Kolkata Metro East – West project and will take up supply to Mumbai Metro (Line 2, 2A & 7)

It may be recalled that BEML has forayed into the manufacture and supply of hi-tech Metro Cars in 2002. Since then, BEML had made significant strides and supplied to various Metro Rail Corporations across the country like Delhi Metro, Bangalore Metro, Jaipur Metro, Kolkata Metro numbering nearly 1500 metro coaches till date.

BEML now look forward to emerge as the preferred destination for metro coaches / advanced trains within the country as well as foray into manufacture of high speed trains in near future. Deepak Hota is the CMD of BEML.
