Celebration of 71st Foundation Day of DVC

DVC of which Prabir Kumar Mukhopadhyay is the CMD, DVC celebrated the 71st Foundation Day on 7th July, 2018 with great aplomb and enthusiasm in the presence of Union Minister of State (IC),Power and New & Renewable Energy,R.K. Singh,Minister for Power, West Bengal, Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Food & Supply Deptt., Jharkhand,Saryu Rai and Members of Parliament from Jharkhand and West Bengal.The first multipurpose river valley project of Independent India has just completed 70 years of its eventful journey.As part of the celebration Shri Singh laid the foundation stone of Administrative Building of DVC,in New Town; inaugurated the Remote Control Room and launched the DVC Generation App ‘GEN TRAIL’at DVC Towers and also released a Commemorative Volume on 70 years of its achievements.

In his inspiring address to the employees of DVC the Union Power Minister urged that DVC should aspire for a ‘Maharatna’ status and should start working towards the goal because DVC has the potential to become a ‘Maharatna’. “I want the DVC to think national and not restrict itself only to two states.”Singh said addressing its employees. The Minister also gave away the awards and prizes in the academic excellence category, best power plant category, best employee etc.
Mukund Nayak, the Padmashree Awardee and Madam Kanta Chakraborty, the guardian angel to 20 homeless needy young girls were felicitated for her commendable and selfless work in educating them. The celebration was concluded with a cultural programme at Science City, Main Auditorium where Mukund Nayak,the Padmashree Awardee from Jharkhand and his troupe performed tribal and folk dance alongwith songs. Besides this, the employees of DVC and their family members also took part in the cultural programme and there was Kavita Path by eminent artists of repute.
