By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Ranchi witnessed a blend of reverence, achievement, and forward-looking innovation as Central Coalfields Limited commemorated International Workers’ Day with a grand समारोह at the Gangotri Convention Centre.
The day began on a solemn note at the Shaheed Smarak in Darbhanga House, where floral tributes were paid to martyred coal workers—an enduring reminder of the sacrifices that underpin India’s energy backbone. Led by CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh, senior leadership, vigilance officials, area heads, and employees gathered to honour the legacy of these “coal warriors.”
The समारोह formally commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the rendition of the Coal India Limited corporate song, setting a tone of unity and purpose. Representatives of labour unions participated actively, reflecting the collaborative spirit that defines the organisation’s work culture.
In his address, the CMD highlighted the remarkable operational performance of key mining areas—B&K, Barkasayal, and Argada—which have collectively recorded the highest production levels in the current financial year. He also underlined significant socio-economic initiatives, including the provision of 216 jobs under land-for-employment schemes, the revival of the Rajhara Open Cast Project, and notable strides in environmental sustainability and CSR activities.
A key highlight of the समारोह was the inauguration of a newly developed working washery model, symbolising CCL’s commitment to technological advancement and efficiency in coal processing.
Recognition formed the heart of the celebration, as outstanding employees and high-performing area units were felicitated for their contributions. Adding vibrant cultural energy to the event, students from DAV School presented Ganesh Vandana, songs, and dance performances that resonated with the audience.
The occasion also marked the release of ‘Utkarsh,’ the company’s annual magazine, showcasing both organisational milestones and the creative expressions of its workforce. In a nod to digital innovation, CCL unveiled its AI-powered avatar, “CCL ka Tau,” designed to communicate company policies and projects in an engaging and accessible manner.
With the presence of trade union representatives, committee members, officials, employees, and media, the event stood as a testament to CCL’s enduring ethos—where tradition meets transformation, and labour is celebrated not just as effort, but as a force shaping the nation’s progress.
