The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Chandmari, Guwahati(Assam) has convicted Anil Kumar Kunj, then Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives, Petroleum & Explosive Safety Organisation(PESO), Guwahati in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.20,000/-.

CBI had registered a case on 12.02.2013 U/s 7 of PC Act against Anil Kumar Kunj on a complaint alleging demand of Rs.35,000/- as illegal gratification from the complainant for endorsement of an explosive licence. The licence was granted from the Explosive Department, Kolkata which was inspected by the accused and was pending for his endorsement. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.35,000/-. After investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused in the Designated Court.
