In the august presence of Chief Guest,Nitin Gadkari,Union Minister (Water Resources, River Development, Ganga Rejuvenation, Road Transport, Highways and Shipping) Government of India; WAPCOS, a Government of India Enterprise signed an MoU with M/s Doppelmayr, Austria for providing end to end solutions for Passenger Ropeway Projects, including Feasibility Studies, Detailed Project Reports, Construction, Supply of Equipment, Operation and Maintenance etc. The MoU was signed by R.K. Gupta, CMD, WAPCOS and Vikram Singhal, MD & CEO, Doppelmayr India at New Delhi on 05th November 2018. Satpal Maharaj, Minster for Irrigation, Flood Control, Minor Irrigation, Rain Water Harvesting, Water Management, Indo-Nepal Uttarakhand River Projects, Tourism, Pilgrimage & Religious Fairs, Culture, Government of Uttrakhand; U.P. Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and Michael Doppelmayr, Chairman, Doppelmayr Group, Austria also graced the occasion. The MoU will enable development of Ropeway Projects in various States of India using globally accepted standards for passenger MoU-WAPCOS & Doppelmayr safety and reliability. These projects will not only reduce traffic congestion and pollution but shall contribute towards development of tourism destinations and provide impetus to employment generation in India. Under the MoU, WAPCOS and Doppelmayr shall jointly conduct Feasibility Studies; prepare Detailed Project Reports for installation of Cable Cars with a view to provide Modern Transport Solutions for decongestion and Last Mile Connectivity for Urban Areas and Hilly & Difficult Terrains in India.
