By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| CP Sanjay Kumar Flags Off Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign, Calls for Collective Fight Against Addiction

Bhopal has joined Madhya Pradesh’s statewide fight against drug abuse with renewed determination as the Bhopal Police Commissionerate formally launched the “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0” campaign. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to creating a drug-free society by combining strict enforcement with widespread public awareness and community participation.

Leading the campaign, Bhopal Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar, IPS, flagged off the Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign vehicle in the presence of ACP (Law & Order) Shailendra Singh Chauhan, ACP Crime Monika Shukla, and senior officers of the Commissionerate. The campaign vehicle will travel across different parts of the city, spreading awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and encouraging citizens to become active partners in the fight against drugs.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar urged people, particularly the youth, to stay away from narcotic substances. He stressed that drug addiction does not destroy only an individual’s life but also tears apart families and weakens the very fabric of society. Calling for collective responsibility, he appealed to parents, teachers, educational institutions, social organisations and citizens to work together in protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs.

The campaign in Bhopal is part of the state-wide initiative launched by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to make Madhya Pradesh a drug-free state. Running from July 15 to July 30, 2026, the campaign is being implemented simultaneously across all districts through rallies, awareness runs, public pledges, educational programmes, street plays, social media outreach and community engagement activities.

A key feature of the campaign is the participation of students from schools and colleges, NCC and NSS volunteers, Scout and Guide members, Gram and Nagar Suraksha Samitis, public representatives and civil society organisations. Through interactive programmes, awareness drives and creative communication, the campaign aims to educate young people about the physical, mental, social and economic consequences of drug abuse.

The Madhya Pradesh Police have also ensured the involvement of several government departments, including Higher Education, School Education, Health, Social Justice, Rural Development, Urban Development, Technical Education and Sports & Youth Welfare. Religious and social organisations such as Prajapita Brahma Kumaris, Gayatri Pariwar, Art of Living and Heartfulness are extending support, while trained volunteers and experts from de-addiction organisations will assist in counselling and awareness activities.

The campaign also promotes the use of the National Narcotics Helpline numbers 1933 and 14446 for reporting drug trafficking, illegal sale and cultivation of narcotic substances, besides providing guidance for de-addiction and rehabilitation. Citizens can also seek assistance through the NCB MANAS portal.

By flagging off the awareness vehicle and appealing directly to the people, Bhopal Police has reinforced that the battle against drugs is not merely a law enforcement challenge but a social movement requiring active participation from every section of society. With sustained public engagement and coordinated efforts, the Commissionerate hopes to inspire a healthier, safer and drug-free future for Bhopal and the state.
